Paint – Blend Policies

Paint minimum excluding clear/coat:

Time is calculated by the Mitchell system, however, we have agreed that we will pay a minimum of 1 hour.

Note: these times would not necessarily apply if there is depreciation being applied.

Clear/Coat

Maximum clear-coat allowed will be 3.0 hours including inners.

Blending

On all estimates where there is refinish time for a visible exterior panel, an additional 0.5 refinish hour will be allowed.  The only exception to this would be:

• The bumper is the only part being refinished and no other exterior panels.
• The vehicle colour is single-stage black.
• In cases where a part is typically refinished off the vehicle (mirrors, spoilers, door handles, etc.) and this is the only part being refinished, blending would not likely be considered.
• Where the entire vehicle is being “zone” refinished, blending will not apply.

 

Full refinish time, as determined by Mitchell, will still be allowed and the 0.5 hour blending time will be provided in addition to this time. The blending option will be selected by the Estimator in Mitchell’s UltraMate, which will add the word “BLEND” as well as 0.5 hour for refinish, on the estimate.  Blending is not to exceed 0.5 hour per claim.
