Remanufactured / Rebuild
Certain parts are regularly remanufactured and provided at far less than the OEM price. The following parts, amongst others, will show up on an estimate as a one-dollar item. At the estimator's request, the shop must supply a receipt.
- Steering racks
- Drive axles
Since July 2015, Manitoba Public Insurance will only approve Diamond Standard aftermarket rebars, absorbers and mounting brackets for use on MPI claims (see the July 9, 2015 Technical Bulletin). Diamond Standard is the only brand of aftermarket rebars, impact absorbers, and bumper mounting brackets that sufficiently replicates the safety and damageability characteristics of corresponding OEM parts. Currently, this is the only exception to the policies in the March 10, 2010 Technical Bulletin, when Manitoba Public Insurance suspended the use of all structural aftermarket parts including rebars, absorbers and mounting brackets, as well as remanufactured rebars.
